Is it a cliché? Or can the ‘fresh start’ energy be for real?

Is it a cliché? Or can the ‘fresh start’ energy be for real?

Ways to bring the refresh and reset vibe into your life and home

It’s hard to resist the energy that comes with a transition. Saying goodbye to the past—especially if it’s felt like 12 months of crisis and challenge—can feel like an opportunity to rinse everything off, both psychically and physically. You can then move forward into a new reality feeling cleaner and lighter.

So without putting any pressure or expectation into the mix—no resolutions doomed to fail before they’ve even started—we’ve a few suggestions that may help you tap into this positive energy.

First of all, go gentle on yourselves! Don’t buy into the ‘total life makeover’ vibe, instead consider what the small wins, the ‘what ifs,’ might look or feel like.

What if: every time you are tempted to say ‘should’ in a statement, you instead say ‘could’?

What if: you could make at least 10 minutes in your day to get out into nature, whatever the weather? There’s no better medicine than a brisk breeze, the scent of the trees, birdcall, the smell and dependability of the earth under your feet, the ocean’s cold salty blessing as you walk along the shoreline or duck under a wave.

What if: you could add one or two more natural products into your home or body care routines? Like every night as you turn off the light, spritzing your pillows with our Pillow and Linen Spray? Its Eucalyptus and Peppermint will help you breathe comfortably and deeply while Rosalina will help to calm and soften you into sleep.

If this feels like the perfect time to de-clutter and clean your home, go for it. Just remember it doesn't have to be done in a day! Going through old and forgotten things can take an emotional toll. These items carry the weight of memories or associations, and the work of deciding which ones no longer serve your life can feel like heavy lifting. If it helps, categorise items by type: books, clothes, kitchenware. Some you may want to donate, some to dump. Be aware of how tired you become and don’t force yourself to do more than a couple of hours or so at a time. Go room by room, and if you are left with empty cupboards and drawers, give them a wipe-down along the way with one of our Multi-Purpose Cleaners. Lemon Myrtle and Mandarin are nature’s perfect disinfectants to cleanse the residue left by what no longer belongs.

First the de-clutter, then the cleaning. You’re all stocked up with natural cleaning products (hopefully) so you’re good to go. Just so you know, our Floor Cleaner with Mandarin and Peppermint is an excellent all-rounder, fabulous for all types of floors and wooden furniture. Mandarin is known as the happy oil, so if you happen to be a sporadic rather than regular cleaner (totally no judgement!), this is a great aroma to get you in a really positive frame of mind.

Best to prioritise the areas that get the most use, like kitchen and bathroom. If you live with family or friends, get everyone into the refresh and reset vibe. Whether or not you share your home, put on an awesome playlist, because music immediately makes everything feel easier and more fun. Take a break from washing the windows or wiping out the fridge and just boogie!

Once all the work is done, have a good rest and enjoy your space. Consider staying on top of the cleaning and de-cluttering throughout the year, so that when 2026 rolls around, you can put most of that ‘fresh start’ energy into more time with friends, more time in nature, more time for yourself.

Happy refresh and reset!
