Opting for the peaceful and simple in life with Jessica Gomes

Opting for the peaceful and simple in life with Jessica Gomes

After several years living and working in the United States, and featuring in high-end glossies like Harper’s Bazaar, Vogue, Elle, and In Style, Australian-born model, actor and entrepreneur Jessica Gomes has opted to continue her international career from her homeland.  Born in Sydney, raised in Perth, Jessica has chosen to live in Byron Bay, partly to be closer to family and friends, and partly to immerse herself in the nature around this beautiful region. We asked her to tell us about her connection to nature:

What’s your favorite thing to do in nature?

Go for a walk under all the trees and get fresh air. I also love swimming in the ocean, laying in the sun and jumping in a waterfall. It all just gives me so much rejuvenation naturally.

What’s your favorite natural scent?

It’s the rose. I’ve just always been so drawn to the beauty of roses and their healing qualities. I have a rose tattoo. It’s always been a symbol of the journey of life and death for me. The smell is so powerful and sweet.

Can you describe an experience when you’ve been made to feel fully in awe—and perhaps even uncomfortably—aware of the power of nature?

I have felt a spiritual and mystical experience when I was swimming in the ocean, and I saw dolphins jumping just in front of me. Dolphins are very magical to me. And when it’s a full moon. Just laying under the full moon gives me a spiritual and mystical experience to manifest and call in what I truly desire.

Where’s your favorite place to be in nature?

For sure in Byron Bay, in the Northern Rivers. The hinterland waterfalls, the beach, the bush walks. I just love driving through the green rolling hills, they remind me of the English countryside.

Describe your connection to nature: what positives does it bring to your life?

The real reason I get outside is to be closer to my true essence and self. When I am with nature, I feel I am with the source and I am connected to healing. Things feel peaceful and simple. It gives me clarity and it just keeps me grounded. I love nature so much. I’m so happy I am now living in nature in Byron Bay.
