Making the Most of Your Spring Cleaning without Synthetic Fragrance

Making the Most of Your Spring Cleaning without Synthetic Fragrance

With winter finally out of the way and spring at our doorstep, it gives us an excellent opportunity to get back into spring cleaning!  And what a better way to kick things off than with safe, eco-friendly cleaning products that are packed with essential oils.

Winter is generally not the most motivating month when it comes to keeping the house clean.  Many of us would simply prefer to be reading a book under a blanket instead of doing routine clean-ups.  Now that spring has arrived, the temperature will once again warm up and that gentle mantra of “I should really clean the house” runs through our minds.

Now then, before rushing over to your cleaning products, spraying down the bathroom and scrubbing away at your kitchen bench, you should first check to see what chemicals you’re actually spreading around your home.

Be careful of cleaning products that contain fragrances

Did you know that today there are over 3000 chemicals commonly used in the manufacture of fragrances (source)? A large part of these fragrances is used in everyday cleaning products that you may already have in your home. Whether if it’s a supermarket branded ‘lemon scented kitchen cleaner’ or ‘lavender infused bathroom cleaner’, chances are that they contain synthetic fragrances.

What’s the problem with synthetic fragrances?

The problem with using cleaning products with synthetic fragrances is that you’re essentially spreading all these ‘nice smelling’ chemicals all around your home. Not only can this be detrimental to your pets and yourself, but also your children.

Synthetic fragrances are known to cause many health problems and a lot of the time many people aren’t even aware that it’s happening. The following article sheds light on one women’s incredible journey to discovering the ill-effects of using synthetic fragrances: https://www.smh.com.au/lifestyle/the-serious-health-issues-linked-to-chemicals-that-give-products-fragrance-20170118-gttrua.html

What’s a safer alternative?

As opposed to using cleaning products with fragrances, Koala Eco recommends using products which contain pure essential oils.  The essential oils we use are natural, eco and family-friendly scents that are derived from Australia’s most beautiful flora.  Some of the essential oils that we use in our cleaning products are extracted from:

  • Eucalyptus Australiana
  • Peppermint
  • Lemon Myrtle
  • Mandarin
  • Lemon Scented Eucalyptus
  • Pink Grapefruit
  • Rosemary

Once you’ve cleaned your home, there’s always the smell of ‘clean house’ in the air.  By using products that don’t pose any harm to your family or environment, you can guarantee that you’ll be able to revel in this smell for even longer.

As well as the scents that are added to our cleaning products, all the other ingredients are all completely natural.  At Koala Eco, we don’t use any synthetic colours, dyes, animal ingredients or chemicals. With every clean, you can ensure that you’re using a product that has, and never will be tested on animals and won’t do any harm to the environment.
